First home EV charger from Octopus Energy

UK heat pump manufacturer Octopus Energy has designed, built and launched its first home EV charger—Octopus Charge.

With the most popular electric vehicle (EV) tariff, customers can charge their vehicles for as little as 2p per mile.

Additionally with Octopus’ innovative Drive Pack traffic, customers can also access unlimited charging for just £30 a month.

Octopus Charge can power their EVs with any surplus solar electricity, which means free, home-grown electricity can be used on the road.

New electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints are set to come online across Portsmouth, thanks to Portsmouth City Council’s new partnership with chargepoint operator Zest.

Zest are taking over 80 existing sites, upgrading and replacing these chargepoints to allow residents to access EV charging from closer to their homes.

Denbighshire County Council is one of the first users of alternating current (AC) rather than direct current (DC) in its vehicle to grid (V2G) electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints.

V2G charging benefits EV users by reducing energy costs while also improving resilience of the UK’s electric system by allowing an EV to both take power from the grid and send it back. An EV could take electricity when prices are low when being charged, and give it back to the grid at peak times when prices are high, meaning operators could save on electricity costs.

Lambeth Council are expanding its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure through rolling out more charging points, as well as taking control of the borough’s charging network.

Lambeth currently has more than 400 EV charging points across the borough with a further 70 fast or rapid points and 264 lamppost charging points planned to be installed this year.

From Monday 17th March, the remaining Lamp column EV charging infrastructure will change as the council moves the operation over to its in-house system.

City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council has announced their plans to proceed with the phased Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Grant Funded Programme to deliver additional electric vehicle infrastructure across the district. This will be delivered by an electric vehicle (EV) solutions contractor and will be a £3.1 million investment, at no cost of the council.

As Bradford Council is still seeking approval; an update on the progress of its grant funding from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero will be announced in early February.

£100 million secured for clean multi-charging and fuelling hubs

Aegis Energy, a green energy supplier, has secured £100 million funding from Quinbrook Infrascture Partners (Quinbrook), a specialist global investment manager, to build the UK’s first clean, multi-energy recharging and refuelling facilities for commercial vehicles.

These hubs will be able to meet the needs of all green truck and van operators, catering for electric, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), hydrogen, and bio-compressed natural gas (CNG) models.
