ChargeUK appoints Jarrod Birch as first head of policy

EV charging infrastructure industry association ChargeUK has announced Jarrod Birch as the organisation’s first Head of Policy.

Jarrod joins from Shell Recharge, where he was Policy & Advocacy Lead, having also previously been a member of ChargeUK’s Board.

Jarrod’s focus will be on creating the policy and regulatory conditions the sector needs to build the UK’s EV charging infrastructure at a time when the EV transition is at a critical point.

New National Highways chair appointed to lead road investment

Sir Gareth Rhys Williams has been announced as the new chair of National Highways.

National Highways is currently completing delivery of the second Road Investment Strategy (RIS2) and preparing for the third Road Investment Strategy.

Williams will be overseeing delivery of £24 billion of investment into roads, which is intended to bring improved journeys, ease congestion, create jobs and grow the economy across the country.

He previously worked at the Cabinet Office and has served as government chief commercial officer for the past eight years.

Andy Eastlake is to step down as Zemo Partnership CEO, after more than a decade leading the Partnership, with Claire Haigh to now take the helm.

Zemo Partnership – formerly called the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership/LowCVP – has been working with government and the widest range of stakeholders for over 20 years to deliver key policies and initiatives to accelerate the decarbonisation of UK road transport.
